Lil' Birdy Presents...

Matt Stevens

Slow Goin' - Front Cover

Slow Goin'

In the winter of '03, Matt Stevens was caught up in the hills by a raging snowstorm. The frostbitten wanderer found an abandoned mine and took refuge. Deep inside he came upon the bones of an old prospector and his mule. Next to them, laid back and broken, were the remains of a beaten guitar, a rickety, wooden, rocking chair, a case of cigarettes, a barrel of quality old No.7 Tennessee sour mash whiskey, and salted pork. For 22 days Matt Stevens holed up against the storm in that cave, tuning the guitar and growling out thoughts. When he arrived at Lil Birdy Studios in Chicago a year and a half later, he played his guitar and sang his songs. This is one of what we heard.
